Bringing together utility professionals to demonstrate a safer way to handle coiled pipe
UIS Tooling & Technologies recently welcomed utility professionals from across the sector to a dedicated demonstration day at JPB Utilities Ltd, where attendees had the opportunity to see the UIS Coil Tec in action.
Hosted at JPB Utilities’ depot, the event brought together representatives from a range of utility organisations to experience first-hand how Coil Tec is helping transform the way coiled polyethylene (PE) pipe is loaded, handled and inspected.
Developed in collaboration with Cadent Gas, the UIS Coil Tec has been designed to address many of the long-standing safety challenges associated with handling coiled pipe in depot environments. By enabling operators to safely load, unload and inspect coils hydraulically from within the cab of a telehandler, the system significantly reduces the need for manual handling and eliminates many of the risks traditionally associated with the task.
Throughout the day, attendees were able to see live demonstrations of the system and discuss how Coil Tec can improve both safety and operational efficiency within their own organisations. The event also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences, with conversations focusing on the continued drive towards safer working practices and innovation across the utilities industry.
The demonstration generated strong interest from those in attendance, with many recognising the importance of adopting safer methods for handling PE pipe as the industry continues to improve standards and reduce workplace risk.
